Frequently Asked Questions
Will
I
get
whiter
teeth
with
my
dentist?
No.
Pearlys
Professional
Teeth
Whitening
is
exactly
the
same
as
the
teeth
whitening
system
that
dentists
use.
Pearlys
Whitening
Gel
is
made
of
Carbamide
Peroxide
(the teeth whitening product that most dentists prefer)
and
the
strengths
available
are
the
same.
The
only
difference
is the price!
How
do
Pearlys
compare
with
Laser
Teeth
Whitening?
The
results
of
a
Pearlys
treatment
are
as
good
as
a
laser
treatment,
the
main
difference
is
that
Pearlys
whiten
teeth
gradually
over
a
few
days
of
use
whereas
laser
teeth
whitening
takes
a
couple
of
hours.
Laser
teeth
whitening
with
a
dentist
costs
between £500
- £800
and
maintaining
the
whiteness
means
paying
again.
With
a Pearlys treatment
you
can
easily
re-touch
your
smile
at
anytime
with
no
or
minimal
extra
cost
(you
can
replace
your
whitening
gel
when
you
run
out
for
very
little
cost).
Some
clients
want
quick
results and the
convenience
of
at
home
re-touches,
for
these
clients
combining
Pearlys
with
initial
laser
treatment
is
ideal.
Some
of
our Pearlys
Clinics also
offer
in
clinic Laser
Teeth
Whitening,
contact Pearlys
head
office for
more
information.
Do
over
the
counter
teeth
bleaching
kits
work?
Over
the
counter
kits
have
a
standard
size
mouth
piece
and
are
not
customised
to
fit
the
individual.
The strength of the whitening gel that they contain is so weak
that
virtually
no
whitening
is
achieved.
These
kits
may
be
cheap
but
they
are
a
complete
waste
of
money!
Can
everyone
use
Pearlys?
Most
people
with
no
dental
problems
can
use
Pearlys
safely.
As
with
any
effective
treatment
there
are
some
who
should
avoid
its
use:
Contraindications
- You're pregnant or breast feeding
- You have loose teeth, loose fillings, gum disease, or unfilled cavities. It is advisable to see your dentist to have any problems treated before teeth whitening.
- You're allergic to our active ingredients (carbamide peroxide, hydrogen peroxide, propylene glycol, glycerin)
- You are under 18
- You wear braces
I
have
a
cap
or
a
veneer,
can
I
still
use
Pearlys?
Yes
this
is
fine,
however
the
implant
will
only
whiten
back
to
its
original
colour
and
your
natural
teeth
may
become
whiter.
Some
clients
choose
to
whiten
their
teeth
with
Pearlys
before
having
their
implant
replaced
to
match
their
new
lighter
shade.
Alternatively,
with
the
flexibility
of
the
gradual
whitening
achieved
with
Pearlys
it
is
simple
to
match
up
stained
teeth
with
a
lighter
implant.
Will
Pearlys
work
for
everyone?
Almost
all
natural
teeth
will
whiten,
however
everyone's
teeth
are
different
and
the
time
taken
and
degree
of
whitening
will
vary.
Grey
marks
(often
caused
by
antibiotic
treatment
as
a
child)
can
take
longer
to
lift
when
compared
with
yellow
or
brown
teeth.
Will
my
teeth
become
sensitive?
Possibly.
Some
people
do
experience
sensitivity
to
temperature
during
and
for
about
24-48
hours
after
application.
For
these
clients Pearlys
Sensitive
Gel and Pearlys
Ultra
Sensitive
Gel should
be
used.
Following
these
steps
will
help
prevent
sensitivity:
- Use one of Pearlys Sensitive Gels
- Wear your customised trays for a shorter period of time
- Give your teeth a break from whitening (perhaps use your Pearlys on alternate days)
- Don't apply too much gel. No more than a trace should ooze over the tray onto your gums, if there is a significant amount you're using too much. Make sure that you wipe the excess from your gums with a cotton bud.
- Use a toothpaste formulated for sensitive teeth.
Will
my
teeth
whiten
evenly?
It
is
common
for
the
edges
of
the
teeth
to
whiten
faster
than
the
rest
which
can
make
the
teeth
appear
uneven
for
a
while.
This
is
because
the
enamel
is
thicker
near
to
the
gum
line
and
so
the
whitening
gel
takes
longer
to
penetrate
the
top
of
the
tooth.
The
colour
will
even
out
with
continued
treatments.
I have
white
spots
on
my
teeth,
will
Pearlys
help
get
rid
of
them?
It
is
possible
during
treatment
that
white
spots
will
look
more
prominent
for
a
while.
With
continued
treatment
the
rest
of
the
tooth
will "catch
up" and
although
the
white
spots
may
not
completely
disappear
they
will
be
less
noticeable.
Can
Pearlys
damage
the
enamel
on
my
teeth?
No
adverse
effects
to
tooth
enamel
have
been
shown
in
studies
of
professional
teeth
whitening.
Carbamide
gel
has
been
used
by
dentists
for
years
and
are
proven
to
cause
no
damage
to
the
enamel.
How
long
will
it
take
to
whiten
my
teeth?
Most
people
will
notice
a
difference
in
the
first
day
or
two
and
achieve
the
shade
they
desire
within
5
-
12
days.
This
does
depend
on
the
initial
colour
of
the
tooth
and
some
clients
find
it
takes
longer.
How
long
will
the
results
last?
This
depends
on
your
lifestyle.
Most
clients'
teeth
are
noticeably
whiter
for
18-24
months
but
with
regular
retouches
every
few
months
there
is
no
need
to
ever
have
discoloured
teeth
again.
How
long
will
Pearlys
Gel
last?
The
shelf
life
of Pearlys
Gel is
2
years
if
kept
cool
and
dark
(ideally
in
the
fridge).
